Uprooted
Being uprooted isn’t the end of your life. It’s the sudden, terrifying space where you finally get to build the right one.
It’s been an interesting year for me - an interesting life rather. Everything is a mess, and I’ve been here before, but this time I’m really to blame and that’s hard to accept.
It has been extremely painful to travel the road of depression alone, and I’ve had it as long as I can remember. I was missing work left and right, fatigued without reason, and it led to me taking some time off to focus on my physical and mental wellbeing. A few weeks ago, my mental health spiraled into psychosis after three months of going downhill fast.
I made some choices I’m not proud of. After an extended stay at a hospital I’m left with returning to the destruction I’ve caused, and I fully hope no one reading this ever experiences something similar. At the same time, if you’ve been here before I hope it can at least be comforting to hear you’re not alone.
Those who are upset with me would love for me to wallow in self pity, break down, give up for good, but even in my darkest hour I’m choosing to look forward to peace and healing. At the end of the day, you can’t fall far enough that God can’t catch you.
I feel hopeful moving into this next season of life and excited to spend some time on my mental health. Fortunately for me, creativity is my favorite coping skill, and I feel like I unknowingly created this studio to help myself now in finding healing through art.
